In addition to New Student Orientation, all new students participate in the Transition Week program starting the Wednesday before classes begin. Sessions addressing new student issues, academics, team-building, social activities, and preparation for the first day of classes mark the transition to college life and give students the opportunity to prepare for their new role as Keuka College students.
The first step in making the adjustment to college is getting to know your roommate. You may want to contact your roommate during the summer to coordinate room decor, talk about living arrangements, and, most importantly, get to know each other. Taking this first step can help build the foundation for a successful living experience. Living in a residence hall can be fun and rewarding, as well as a learning experience, and gives you the opportunity to meet people and establish friendships that can last a lifetime.
We realize the adjustment to college life is sometimes more difficult than you may anticipate. Homesickness, anxiety, and stress can be normal reactions to a new environment. We urge you to use the resource on campus—residence life staff, your mentor, counseling services, your adviser, or academic support services—to help you make this adjustment. These resources are provided to give you the greatest possible opportunity for success at Keuka College.
